Suboxtin or Suboxone (buprenorphine and naloxone) is used to treat … basically the drug itself is an opioid… Buprenorphine is the opioid and Naloxone blocks the effects of other opioids. The reason they use it even though it’s an opioid (it’s addictive) they believe it’s easier to quit than heroin, morphine, codeine etc. It doesn’t give you the same pleasant symptoms that people crave from those kinds of drugs, so they believe that’s why it’s easier to stop taking. So they switch you from whatever drug, onto this drug… then eventually get you off that drug. Because most people find it too intense to try and quit things like heroin cold turkey

Hi,well I’m actually on Suboxone, and I also use this medication for my addiction to opiates. This medications has helped me a great deal with the withdrawals, and other unpleasant side effects of opiate addiction.Although everyone is different to the reaction to Suboxone, and I do suggest you see a psychiatrist for this medication, due to the fact that when addicted to opiates mental health plays a huge role in opiate addiction.I know that while I was using opiates…I was a real mess mentally..I was suicidal, depressed, anxious, unable to sleep and at times I was very physically abusive to others. And, I hate admitting that part!!! But it’s true.I’m soon to be tapered off the Suboxone, and will be free of any/all dependence of medications. So,IF you feel that this medication(Suboxone) might be of some help you, then at least you can ask a professional about some information. And a doctor holding a special license will be able to prescribe this medication, but I have found it to of a big part of my recovery.I wish you the best of luck, and hope everything works out for the best for you.
