Its really very simple when you look from the outside in….its all about the profit…meaning the money people make selling their prescriptions to junkies who need that fix. Many medications such as lexapro, xanax, valium, etc. are being watched now for abuse. This means if someone fills one prescription one day and comes back 2-3 days later to fill it again, then obviously something is going on.

The drugs can come from anywhere, even the nice neighbor next door. People can order from online pharmacies in Canada or just about anywhere and most times these drugs are not the real deal. When someone is prescribed a medication such as lortab, most often if someone who is hooked on this medication finds out then they will ask to buy your pills from you. Same goes for methadone. The reason for the addiction can be linked back to opium from the common poppy. Opium has been used for centuries for pain relief and for euphoric highs and is EXTREMELY addictive. Morphine is about the most pure form out there and the most addictive. This is in a class of drugs called opioids, or narcotics.

Prescription drug abuse can come about when someone gets hooked, or addicted, to a certain medication and they eventually need to take more and more of that medication for the effect to take place. This then leads this person to purchase more and more of that medication on the “black market”, which could be right around the corner. Its a very vicious and nasty spiral, and detox from these drugs is very difficult.

The physical effects of addiction are countless, and they can often cause substance-induced mood disorders such as schizophrenia or psychosis. Other effects of these include agitation, tremors, delirium, extreme sedatoion. This is why a lot of Schedule II and III drugs are being watched by the FDA for abuse. While you are online, do some research about Schedule II and III drugs. Also, it might not hurt to do some brief reading on the history and use of morphine. This also has an affect on the economy too. Keep in mind that a lot of junkies know “people” who can “hook them up”.

Im not real sure how to stop it….there are measures to watch certain prescription drugs of abuse. I am not sure what else is being done. I hope this has helped you some. Please feel free to email me if you need more detail.
