How Does the Air Force Find Out About Past Drug Abuse?

Question by Dat Gurl: How does the air force find out about past drug abuse?
I’ve been marijuana free for 28 days now and I seriously want to be done with drugs and join the air force to help to live a better, more productive, drug free life. I recently posted a question stating I abused the drug for about 2 years and some of the feed back I received said I’m more than likely DQ and it probably wouldn’t be a good idea to lie about my drug use to get into the air force. What I would like to know is if I’m clean b4 I go in how can they find out about my past drug use? Can they still find out if I choose a job that dosent require TS clearance?

I am seriously done with drugs I don’t plan to ever relaps. And I think joining the air force will help change my life for the better.
I have never been arrested for or have ever been caught with marijuana by any one. Most people don’t even know I’m a smoker and I’ve never been arrested for anything.

About asking these type of questions on yahoo… honestly, I never use my real name or info for anything I do online. So if they were to look me up by my government name they wouldn’t find this, my twitter or my facebook. I don’t use my REAL government name on none of that.

Well first of all, they will ask you. If you decide to lie, than you lie. If you’ve been clean over a month. Than the test won’t show it. If you have ever gotten introuble because of weed than it will be on your record. I’m not sure if they will go any further to check, but who knows they might even read that you posted this.

Well they use a hair follicle sample test and traces of the THC would be there at least 6 months after you stop. If you have any arrest for drugs, including paraphernalia

The presence of drugs in hair is based on a simple principle. Drugs which are ingested circulate in a person’s bloodstream which nourishes developing hair follicles. As a person’s hair grows, the new hair growth will have a trace amount of the drugs.

Trace amounts of drug metabolites become entrapped in the core of the hair as it grows out from the body at a rate of approximately one-half inch per month. These drug residues cannot be washed, bleached or flushed out and are stable over time. A laboratory analysis of the hair fiber from an individual will produce an accurate drug history for that person. The HairConfirm Express Hair Drug Test from Confirm Biosciences goes back 90 days in history, covering the 1.5 inches of the sample closest to the scalp.

This is the home kit version for 90 days

If they do a blood test which is rare they will see everything you have done in the past couple years.
A urine test 30 days or so depends on weight and metabolism
A Hair follicle test about a year but you can easily bleach, shave or dye hair.

Just an update on my reply to post below “@chrissys31”. I have, with? the help of my local gp(doctor) and social drug worker access to residential treatment in England,i stay in Scotland and can only thank god for the British NHS for helping me out with what was a self inflicted illness. Whatever,i am just about to go into a good rehab clinic that is going to get me meds to come off the Methadone and more importantly find the reasons behind the drug taking to begin with. Thank god for the UK NHS

Is this guy a nut bag or what?? He has not? a clue about methadone addiction nor recovery and is obviously self oriented and is I would guess in league with the pharmaceutical companies who are actively fleecing america at the expense of it’s young people. These pharmaceutical companies all have lobbies who court politicians to relax drug laws and regulations. Don’t take the bait and if you already have 15 to 20 days and you will be on your way to not being a slave to glorified drug dealers

My clinic I? swear is out just for the sole purpose of money and they dont give a crap about us patients. Its in a bad neighborhood and basically no rules are enforced and its a flop house! The dr. is rude and the counsling is a joke with ppl w/no experience in drugs. They show favorism and are a one race ran place. You have to help yourself with no guidance really. I hope more ppl research it more before hoppin on it as a miracle drug it might seem like it at first but beware.ty.

and he sleeps on and off through the nite and has also started havin more depressive days than he used to (he is on paxil for yrs.) but its been about 2mths and he is still feelin crappy. I’m the sole provider and care for my kids so I cant laid down and kick cuz if that was the case i would have never got on this! Im ramblin sorry but methadone is tricky? not something for all opiate addicts but yes helps the severe but there should be limits n more help from clinic dr’s.

My man just got off of it cont.

  • chrissys31 says:

hi thanks for commenting we’ll I have done everything u? have mentioned as I have been in this for almost 6 yrs. I am not worried about stigma as I dont even talk to family or have friends right now! i am just sick of the going back n forth to a clinic which is about 20miles there n back from home and I just dont wanna be hooked on something the rest of my life. As you know its so addictive and if u dont have it your screwed. I mean its like insulin and if i wanna sleep in or cont.

  • Puddycat11385 says:

If the methadone is helping u keep away from illegal drugs then why do u want to get off it? is it cause of the stigma that goes with it? is your family pressuring u. Dont believe the garbage u hear, do your own research. I have been on Methadone for 12 yrs, look amazing for my age, am in great shape, I have a good job and no problems at all. I am on a low dose of 40mils and thats enough for me, Im not looking to get high here just to be able to live a normal? life and no one knows.

  • Puddycat11385 says:

If u really want to get off the methadone speak to your councelor about coming down maybe one mil a? month, do it really really slow so your body adjusts and u dont suffer, my bff did it and she’s clean now. Also very important is to tell them NOT to let u know on what day u are coming down and what mils u are currently on cause then the mental kicks in and u will THINK u are feeling withdrawal symptoms when its really just in your head..lol..good luck and watch the sugar intake.
